Tanglewood Farm

Tanglewood racehorse stud & breeding centre

Tanglewood Thoroughbreds has assembled Two stallions for its roster this year headed by Dixie Prospect who is the first son of former Kentucky sire Dixie Union to stand in Australia.

Situated north-east of Tamworth at Kootingal, the new nursery is operated by Brian Worth with input from local stallion owner James Green.

Joining Dixie Prospect is the Australian-bred stallions Canny Show (Canny Lad)

Dixie Prospect (USA) stands at stud for $5000 service fee. He is a replica of Dixie Union who died after ten years service at Lane’s End Farm in July 2010.

A fleet-footed sprinter, Dixie Prospect was restricted to nine starts and landed the Listed King Charles II Stakes (1400m) at Newmarket plus a 1600m event at Gulfstream Park in Florida.

Dixie Prospect (Dixie Union – Tabheej by Mujtahid) is one of at least 15 stakes winners by Dixie Union out of mares by sires representing the Mr. Prospector male line and inbred to him 4×4.

The latest Group 1 winner to carry that cross is 2012 Belmont Stakes hero Union Rags. He is by Dixie Union out of a Gone West mare.

Bookings to Dixie Prospect can be made through Brian Worth (0437605268) and James Green (0467388388).
